What control, if any, do you have over the data you create, share or consume?
The Digital Sovereignty Audit is a Thinkers Dilemma series that will review the current regulations, policies and recourse available to its constituents.
We will grades all fifty U.S. states against one published rubric.

Its question is simple: if your data were taken from you tomorrow, what could you actually do about it?
Each state is scored 0 to 100 across five pillars (Ownership, Consent, Portability, Erasure and Accountability), then graded A to F, with every criterion and its evidence shown. Privacy keeps information from being seen.

Sovereignty asks who holds it, who can force its return, and who answers when it is misused. One state publishes every Thursday from November 5, 2026, Alabama to Wyoming.

We’re keeping the schedule simple, 50 Thursdays for 50 states. See you Thursday.

About Thinkers Dilemma
Thinkers Dilemma is a work of inquiry. It looks at society through a critical lens and asks three questions of the systems we live inside: who benefits, who pays, who decides. It reads primary sources slowly, shows its work, and corrects errors in the open, leaving the original standing so the record stays honest.
The first audit publishes at 12:00 a.m. Eastern on November 5th.
