The Sovereignty Score

Five pillars, fixed criteria, one number from 0 to 100. Score a state yourself in the calculator below, then check it against the published audits.

The formula Sovereignty Score = (Ownership × 0.25) + (Consent × 0.15) + (Portability × 0.15) + (Erasure × 0.15) + (Accountability × 0.30) − Exemption penalty

Each pillar is scored 0 to 100 from the criteria below. The exemption penalty (up to 40) applies only where a comprehensive statute exists. The Reality Test can cap the result at 54. The score is rounded and held between 0 and 100.

№ 01Pillar criteriaEach pillar totals 100
№ 02Exemption penaltyComprehensive statutes only

Where a state has a comprehensive law, each exemption below that applies is deducted, up to a maximum of 40 points. Where it has no such law, the penalty is not applied (Refinement #1).

№ 04Score calculatorRuns in your browser

Score by criterion, or enter pillar totals directly. The calculator uses the same engine as the leaderboard, so a state scored here with the published inputs lands on the published number.

Each example is recomputed live from its published pillar scores and checked against the published result.
